What is a FibroScan?
FibroScan (transient elastography) is a non-invasive test that measures liver stiffness and fat content using ultrasound technology. It takes about 10 minutes and provides two key measurements:
Liver Stiffness (kPa)
Measures fibrosis (scarring). Higher values indicate more scarring. Normal is below 5.0 kPa.
CAP Score (dB/m)
Measures steatosis (fat). Higher values indicate more fat. Normal is below 238 dB/m.
Fibrosis Stages
F0: No fibrosis
F1: Mild fibrosis
F2: Moderate fibrosis
F3: Advanced fibrosis
F4: Cirrhosis
