What is the Child-Pugh Score?

The Child-Pugh score assesses the severity of cirrhosis and predicts short-term prognosis. It combines three lab values with two clinical assessments to produce a score from 5 to 15.

Class A (5–6): Well-compensated — 1-yr survival ~95%

Class B (7–9): Moderate decompensation — 1-yr survival ~80%

Class C (10–15): Severe decompensation — 1-yr survival ~45%
